4Year Plan Binder Preview:
Freshman and Sophomores:
This is the binder that you will be looking at before visiting with your Alpha Counselor about your 4 year plan. This is not a complete binder since some of the information is only on paper in the binder. This will give you an idea of what we will be doing on the day we start your 4 year plan. Some of the information can be found below and in the Course Selection Tab of this website.
When the district has Skyward open to see any developed 4 year plan, the STUDENT must access Skyward from a DESKTOP COMPUTER; not a phone. This is not on the parent access portion of Skyward. It can be found in the ONLINE FORMS tab of the student view only.
Juniors and Seniors:
Juniors: A review of 4 year plans are done during a one-on-one conversation with your Alpha Counselor and you will also go through a pregraduation checklist. You will take home a copy of this checklist.
Seniors: At the beginning of the school year, you will meet with your Alpha Counselor to go through a Senior Graduation Checklist. You will take home a copy of this checklist.
Detailed Endorsement information can be found under the
To understand Endorsements (electives), it is advised to view the video's on the Endorsements page of this website.
Spartan Success Formula - Graduation Requirements
Please note, that your child's Alpha Counselor, will at some point during the school year, have a one-on-one conversation with your student about his/her 4 Year Plan.
The student does not need to make an appointment for this conversation. The Alpha Counselor will send for the student as his/her scheduling allows. Each student in every grade will be seen by their Alpha Counselor. Every effort is made to have students come in, but if a student is absent often, it will be difficult to have the conversation with the student.
This 4 year plan conversation may or may not be before course selection for the next school year (typically in January/February), or it may also occur before or after a Spring Grade Level Peer (Parent) Meeting where information will be shared on all things related to graduation, courses/electives, and endorsements.
A 4 year plan can be changed and is not set in stone until on or about mid-junior year. At the time your student has a conversation with the Alpha Counselor, your child has been given an opportunity to read the 4 Year Plan Binder Preview (this may be found on the 4 Year Plan Tab). If after your child meets with his/her Alpha Counselor, parent and/or the student chooses a course during course selection/enrollment that is different than discussed, it is absolutely okay to choose any course available at the time of course selection/enrollment, even if it differs from what was discussed and put into a 4 year plan in Skyward. Please note, classes required to meet Texas High School graduation requirements are non negotiable.
Any 4 year plan changes will be done the following year during one-on-one 4 year plan meetings with your students Alpha Counselor.
Please check Skyward often on a DESKTOP and look for the endorsements tab. At this time, we are not sure if endorsements can be seen by parents or students. This viewing is not set by SHS, but by the district, therefore, please check Skyward often.
